Bishop Stuart University held a public lecture at the Lake View Hotel on 17 October 2019
where the theme was about the agribusiness technoprenueurship for institutional and national development.
The main presenter, Mr. John Makoha, country representative of the AVSI Foundation, said the theme has come at a time when there has been a more positive trend in employment and yet the youth and unemployment has had serious consequences for Africa. “Africa is generally a youthful population structure close to 400 million people between the ages of 18 to 35 and I am told it’s the youngest population in the world. We have close 10 to 12 million of the youth seeking unsuccessfully to enter the workforce.
This population is expected to double by the year 2040, putting more pressure on the communities, institutions, African governments. Therefore, we need to find a solution for the unemployment of the youth”.
The Vice-Chancellor Prof. Maud Kamatenesi Mugisha (PhD), assured the public that the
University intends to skill students Agri-business chain through technoprenueurship which is
