Director of Finance

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or any other relevant field;
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Science- Finance or any other relevant degree.
  • Must be a Certified Public Accountant and member of a recognized accounting body.

Experience:
At least 8 years of working experience in   a senior financial management position in a University or a busy organization of similar status

Age:  35-55years at the time of application
Skills:  
Excellent skills in leadership; management; integrity; honesty; understanding of data privacy standards; communication both written and verbal; thorough understanding of business principles and practices; superior financial analysis, attention to detail; organizational planning; problem-solving; critical thinking; computer and multi-tasking skills.
 Main Purpose of the Post:
Should take a lead in resource mobilization and provide financial administration, advice, support and planning of the University and maintain the accounts in a form determined by the University Council.
 Responsible for the efforts, results, and success of BSUs finance department
Key duties and responsibilities:

  1. Oversee, review, and adhere to the University budgets approved by University Council
  2. Ensures University -wide budgetary planning, document and maintain complete and accurate supporting documents for all financial transactions
  3. Ensure that all the University’s financial practices are in line with statutory regulations and legislation.
  4. Develop and maintain timely and accurate financial statements and reports that are appropriate for users and in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  5. Prepare all supporting information for the Annual Audit and liaise with the internal audit committee and external auditors as necessary
  6. Monitor the cash flow and prepare cash flow projections forecasts in accordance with policy.
  7.  Appraises and Supervise financial office staff in the facilitation of day-to-day operations, including tracking financial data, invoicing, book keeping, payroll management, bank reconciliation, etc.
  8. Monitor risk management policies/ procedures while seeking out methods and practices to minimize financial risk.
  9. Update and implement financial policies /procedures and maintain a policy manual for the finance department.
  10. Work with Human Resource office to secure candidates with the right skills and competencies who will be an asset to the finance department.
  11. Ensures the development of financial policies, regulations and guidelines.
  12. Participation in the development of resource mobilization strategies.
  13. Participates in the management of financial grants and donations to the University.
  14. Maintains a sound financial accounting system, record keeping and internal controls for the university.
  15. Advises the University management on sound financial policies, rules and procedures.
  16. Manages the reconciliation of books of accounts and the production and presentation of the university financial accounts and bank statements to the relevant authorities.
  17. Provides technical financial support to all the university projects.

Assistant Secretary in charge of Human Resource

Academic Qualifications

  • Masters Degree in Human Resource Development/Management, International Labour Standards, Labour Administration, or any other related field from a recognised University/ Institution.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field of at least second class
  • Applicants must have a minimum of at least 3 years relevant experience in a University or Higher institution of learning of equivalent level
  • Able to work with minimum supervision and a good team player
  • Must be a person of strong faith, integrity and a committed Christian

Duties and responsibilities

  • Tasked with interpreting laws and policies governing the University
  • Drafting and reviewing University policies and contracts
  • Assisting in monitoring enactment of laws and regulations and assess their impact on the operations of the University.
  • Providing legal guidance to Management on day to day operations
  • Secretary to Internal Discipline Committee
  • Assisting the University Secretary in :
  • Management of Staff Employment Contracts
  • Management of Human Resource database.
  • Advising management on staff development and training needs
  • Ensuring that performance appraisal for all staff is carried out as required.
  • Mentoring, coaching and counseling of staff.
  • Assist the University Secretary in regular review of Human Resource Manual and other related policies  
  • Any other duties assigned by immediate supervisor

Assistant Internal Auditor

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in  Commerce (Accounting)
  • Applicant must have a minimum experience of 3years relevant experience in a University or an Institution of higher learning of its equivalent.
  • Able to work with minimum supervision and a good team player
  • Must be a person of strong faith, integrity and a committed Christian

Duties and responsibilities

  • Assist the Internal Auditor to audit University Accounts
  • Ensure proper keeping of the books of accounts and preparing monthly, quarterly and annual audit reports.
  • Perform financial, operational and compliance audits.
  • Develop, coordinate and implement plans for the control, monitoring and reporting of financial operations.
  • Verify payments, Assets and Inventories.
  • Appraise the quality of financial performance.
  • Verify supplies of merchandise goods and stocks received in stores and ensure value for money.
  • Tracking all supplied goods, merchandise and stocks to ensure proper usage in all the University user departments.
  • Audit store works, supplies and service repairs.
  • Any other duty assigned to you by your immediate supervisor.

Medical Laboratory Technician

Qualifications

  • Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology.
  • Applicants must have a minimum of at least 3 years  relevant experience
  • Able to work with minimum supervision and a good team player
  • Must be a person of strong faith, integrity and a committed Christian

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Setting up and maintaining clean medical laboratory equipment
  • Preparing the laboratory equipment and specimens for tests
  • Collecting patient’s body fluids for lab test and analysis
  • Analyzing and recording test results in order to issue reports that utilize graphs, charts, and narratives
  • Performing blood counts and blood tests for transfusion purposes
  • Performing medical research to further control and cure disease.
  • Make reports about clinic performance monthly, make plans and performance indicators.
  •  Perform any other duty as may be assigned by the immediate supervisor

Lecturer-      (statistics)

Qualifications

  • PhD or a Master’s Degree in Statistics with at least one publication in a referred journal or a book chapter.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics
  • Applicants must have a minimum of at least 3 years of relevant experience
  • Able to work with minimum supervision and a good team player
  • Must be a person of strong faith, integrity and a committed Christian

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Teaching and the general planning and development of teaching programmes including lectures, seminars, tutorials etc.
  • Setting, invigilation and marking of course work tests and examinations.
  • Development of learning/teaching materials.
  • Research and Students’ Research Supervision.
  • Participation in and conducting outreach programmes.
  • Publication of your work and other Research.
  • Any other work assigned to you by your supervisor.
